As CompactFlash cards support the IDE/ATA command protocol they can be connected to an IDE interface and function just like a traditional HDD.
The speed is limited by the IDE interface, however seek and write times are generally much faster.
In order to use the card on a VX you will need to obtain the following settings from the manufacturer to be inputted into the Winchester settings screen via xsetup:
